THE PRICE ONE PAYS FOR ONE’S ART: Are you kidding? Sure, a lesser artist most post today, acting as if nothing were happening. But our entire staff will be “in concert” tonight at the Black Rock Center for The Arts (Germantown, Maryland), and we’ve devoted the day to intense preparation. We’ll be fine-tuning the evening’s gambols, and we’ll lose ourselves in standard preparation techniques—improving our diet, following a sensible exercise program, and making sure we get plenty of rest. Also appearing: The incomparable Jeff Caldwell, fresh from an appearance on Dennis Miller, a program he says is on CNBC, which he describes as a cable channel. And yes, we feel quite certain that Jeff is prepping in the manner described. So no, there will be no DAILY HOWLER today, a minor price one pays for one’s art.
